The Trust is designed to provide an ecosystem of support for former players, with an emphasis on overall health and successful transition from professional football. The Trust staff counsels players through a wellness plan across six primary pillars: Brain and Body, Career, Financial, Education, Personal Interaction and Lifestyle.
NFL Player Engagement
NFL Player Engagement exists to serve, equip, and empower former players and their families during the transition from their NFL experience and throughout their lives, with integrity, respect, resiliency, and responsibility to team.
NFL Player Care Foundation
The NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) is an independent organization dedicated to helping retired players improve their quality of life. PCF addresses all aspects of life by providing programs and assistance with medical, emotional, financial, social and community issues.
The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund (GGAF) is a non-stock, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing financial grants and ‘pro bono’ medical assistance to retired NFL players in dire need. The organization focuses on the humanitarian side of post-football related issues, which include coordination of social services to retired players who are in need due to a variety of reasons including inadequate disability and/or pensions.
NFL Legends Community
The NFL Legends Community was launched by the NFL in July 2013 with the objective to celebrate, educate, embrace and connect former players with each other, their former teams and teh NFL. Our focus is to streamline communication and serve as a central source for players to learn about the available programs, resources and benefits.
Professional Athletes Foundation
The Professional Athletes Foundation was founded to support, strengthen and inspire players as they transitioned from their active NFL careers. The foundation provides financial and medical support to any professional or amateur football player or his immediate family in times of crisis. These funds are intended to provide immediate assistance when players are faced with unusual financial or medical challenges that may call for temporary assistance.
The NFL Foundation is the league’s nonprofit organization representing the 32 NFL clubs. It’s mission is to support the health, safety and wellness of athletes, youth football and the communities which support our game. Grants: Youth Football Camp Grant, NFL Player Matching Grants and NFL Player Foundation Grants
The Golden Heart Fund
The Golden Heart Fund supported by 49ers ownership (past and present) and lead by 49ers alumni greats provides funding support and relief for alumni players in times of physical, emotional and financial need. The Golden Heart Fund recognizes that it is undeniable the amount of stress that is overlooked after retirement from the NFL.
