About Us
Here to create a meaningful, trusted network of healthy, happy and purpose driven alumni who are inspired to give back to each other and the community.
OUR STORY
Seeded by the DeBartolo and York families, The Golden Heart Fund was established in 2017 as a ‘Dire Need’ Fund to help players during times of hardship. We have developed into a support network providing a range of services from connecting players to academic enrichment, financial planning, career guidance, health resources, and more. Many players experience significant stress after leaving the NFL and fellow alumni understand these challenges.
The Challenges
No matter the reason, the transition to a post-competitive life is difficult for most athletes. It requires a change in schedule, in mindset, and in identity. The Golden Heart Fund serves as a bridge that eases this transition.
-
We’re dedicated to building a supportive community, fostering peer connections, and offering career development to help alumni find purpose after football.
-
Athletes put their bodies on the line. Healing takes patience, personalized care, financial investment, and support. We support alumni with all of the above and connect them to trusted services both inside and outside the NFL ecosystem.
-
We work to understand the root of the challenges our alumni are facing—and for many, it starts with a lack of connection. We aim to be a partner in guiding, connecting, and validating their experiences, so they never feel alone or unseen.
-
Our emergency assistance program helps stabilize players during times of dire need and facilitates planning for both their future and their families’ long-term financial well-being.
